The decision to throw a party to launch a new venue is not as simple as it sounds. We knew that if we were going to do it, it had to represent One Events’ philosophy of creativity and fun, not just a group of industry folk standing around having a few drinks!
One Belgravia is one of our more intimate venues and we felt there was a way of producing an experience that showed events for forty guests worked just as well as ones for 250, and so our journey begun….
On arrival all guests were welcomed into the Oak Room and met with just the first of Chantal Flores‘ incredible floral displays. One Dining served some of their most celebrated canapés to include mini beef wellington, beetroot mille-feuille and mini fish fingers and peas – the latter being their newest and most popular addition! After thirty minutes, the first forty guests were ushered up to our ‘Cinema Room’, and were greeted with truffle and parmesan popcorn and proceeded to watch a short film, produced by Atmotion Video Productions, about One Events. We didn’t take it too seriously and even had outtakes of ourselves fluffing up our lines – we had some amazing reactions to the film, so click the below if you want to see for yourselves.
The next stop was our mini ‘One Dining experience’ where we had turned part of the Grand Gallery into a forty cover private dining room, with the help of Greathire and its gorgeous furniture. We served spiced Cornish hake fillet with crab and mango, curried cauliflower and seashore vegetables (with a variation on this for anyone with dietary requirements), alongside some stunning wines from The Knotted Vine, including a delightful Barbara Ohlzelt’s Gruner Veltliner. We were really blown away by the comments of the food – One Dining has now been around for nearly three years and like any new catering company it hasn’t all been plain sailing but we really feel we have shown the industry that our in-house division is a superb and cost conscious offering. We did even overhear one guest remark whether it was “a certain leading London caterer catering that night”, which really made us smile!
The huge curtains, just one of the sets on the evening provided by Cover It Up, were opened and revealed the largest part of the Grand Gallery had been split in two; the first half in white and golds contained ‘The Cocktail Bank’, a concept created by us especially for the evening and built by RM Production and executed by AYS’s bar staff serving cocktails from White Label Cocktails in stylish glassware from Well Dressed Tables. Guests lined up to pick from four coloured marbles representing different cocktails and inserted the marble into the bank…within seconds a hand popped out delivering a fresh and incredible tasting cocktail!
This experiential concept was an immediate hit and put guests in the mood for the party side of the evening which was dressed in darker colours. Here they enjoyed desserts, including Limencello possets and Valrhona chocolate and salt caramel pots, chatted to friends, and after a few more cocktails ended the evening dancing the night away with music from STAG.
The One Events team executed the above experience four more times with all guests remaining in the party area until they remembered they had work in the morning!
We were pretty thrilled at the end of the evening but honestly did not realise how well it went until we woke up with a huge amount of emails and texts thanking us for such a great evening. All the work we put into it really paid off with those remarks.
We hope you enjoy the highlights of the evening.
Other launch partners that were involved included; FicklestiX with some superb examples of how vinyl and print are such important parts of any event, The London School of Beauty and Make up, who made the staff look gorgeous and the whole night was incredibly photographed for a lifetime of memories by Noah Goodrich of twobytwo.
